WooCommerce Analytics
Dedicated ecommerce reports for WooCommerce stores — revenue, products, carts, and conversions.
This feature is available on the Premium plan and above.
Overview
The WooCommerce Analytics module adds dedicated ecommerce reporting to your Ghost Metrics dashboard. Once ecommerce tracking data is flowing into Ghost Metrics, this module provides purpose-built reports for revenue trends, product performance, category breakdowns, and cart abandonment.
These reports go beyond what standard pageview and event analytics offer — giving you a complete picture of your online store’s performance within your HIPAA-compliant analytics platform.
We are currently developing a Ghost Metrics WordPress plugin that will automatically connect WooCommerce to Ghost Metrics — no manual code required. In the meantime, you can start collecting ecommerce data using the manual tracking setup.
Getting Started
To use WooCommerce Analytics reports, you first need ecommerce data flowing into Ghost Metrics. Follow the Ecommerce Tracking Setup guide to add product view, cart, and order tracking to your WooCommerce store using the Ghost Metrics JavaScript API or Tag Manager.
Once ecommerce data is being collected, the reports described below become available automatically under the Ecommerce section of your dashboard.
Key Metrics
WooCommerce Analytics tracks and reports on:
- Revenue — Total revenue, revenue by product, revenue by category
- Orders — Order count, order details, average items per order
- Average Order Value (AOV) — Revenue divided by number of orders over any time period
- Product Views — How often each product page is viewed
- Add-to-Cart Rate — Percentage of product views that result in an add-to-cart action
- Conversion Rate — Percentage of sessions that result in a completed order
- Cart Abandonment — Sessions where items were added to cart but no order was placed
Ecommerce Reports
Overview Dashboard
A high-level summary of your store’s performance: total revenue, orders, average order value, and conversion rate over the selected date range. Includes trend comparisons against previous periods.
Product Performance
See which products drive the most revenue, views, and conversions. Sort by revenue, quantity sold, conversion rate, or average price to identify top performers and underperformers.
Category Performance
Understand which product categories generate the most traffic and revenue. Useful for healthcare organizations with diverse product lines — for example, comparing medical supplies against wellness products.
Abandoned Carts
View sessions where visitors added items to their cart but did not complete checkout. Identify patterns in abandonment: which products are abandoned most often, at what cart value, and from which traffic sources.
Healthcare Ecommerce Use Cases
WooCommerce Analytics is particularly useful for healthcare organizations running online stores:
- Online pharmacies — Track which medications and health products have the highest conversion rates, identify prescription fulfillment drop-off points
- Medical device sales — Monitor product performance by device category, measure the impact of clinical documentation on purchase decisions
- Telehealth bookings — When appointments are sold as WooCommerce products, track booking rates, popular appointment types, and abandonment at the scheduling step
- Patient education materials — Measure sales of educational content, courses, or wellness program subscriptions
All data stays within your HIPAA-compliant Ghost Metrics instance — no shopping data is shared with third parties.
Best Practices
Keep Your Product Catalog Consistent
Ghost Metrics identifies products by their WooCommerce product ID and SKU. Avoid deleting and recreating products, as this creates discontinuities in your historical ecommerce data.
Combine with Goals and Funnels
Use Goals to set revenue targets and conversion thresholds. Use Funnels to visualize the complete path from product view to checkout completion and identify where visitors drop off.
Review Data Weekly
Compare Ghost Metrics ecommerce reports with your WooCommerce order data regularly. Small discrepancies are normal (visitors with JavaScript disabled, bot traffic), but consistent gaps may indicate a configuration issue.
Limitations
- WooCommerce only — This module is designed for WooCommerce stores. For other ecommerce platforms, use the standard ecommerce tracking setup.
- Data starts from tracking activation — Ecommerce data is collected from the moment tracking is implemented on your site. Historical orders from before setup are not imported retroactively.
- WordPress plugin in development — Automatic WooCommerce integration via a dedicated Ghost Metrics WordPress plugin is coming soon. Until then, ecommerce tracking requires manual implementation.
